How to completely change your life

Sharing is caring!

Have you ever had a moment when you struggled in your faith? Maybe you’re there right now. Have you ever thought, what you believed in and what the reality of your life was just didn’t add up? And the thought entered your mind, how do I change my life?

You may be at a point right now and you’ve asked yourself questions like how do I grow closer to God? How do I build my self worth? How do I figure out who I am, my purpose and meaning? Why do I keep struggling with sin and I can’t seem to stop? My quality of life is terrible and how do I fix it?

I can assure you, you’re not alone. I know this because not only have I asked these same questions myself, I’ve talked to countless women who have asked the same.

Let me tell you a story about crying on a Saturday morning…

In 2016 I was feeling unfulfilled, lost, and without peace, and after years of trying to fill voids by being in the world I knew that God was the only one who could truly help me. One day, on an early Saturday morning, I just bought an iphone for the first time and decided to download some gospel music.  I put my headphones in and while listening to the gospel music, tears began running down my face.

I cried out to God and said, “I’m tired of being unhappy”. What I was really saying is, I was tired of living this way, being this way. Over the next several years, I sought after God, I worked on building that relationship, and pursuing spiritual growth. As a result, I experienced life transformation through Christ. I was broken now whole, lost now found, in bondage now free, and once empty now fulfilled.

I want you to know that your life can absolutely be transformed by God. That you can see every aspect and area of your life changed by the power of Christ. We have confidence in the fact that God will do his part, that he will complete the work he has begun in you.

So in this post, we will focus on your part. What you need to do to see the change and experience the transformation, and become the person that God has desired you to be.

Here are 4 simple ways to begin to experience transformation in your Christian life

Prepare

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.- 2 Peter 3:18

Prepare your heart, mind, and spirit- As the saying goes, to know where you’re going you have to know where you’ve come from. That’s why the first thing you want to do is get to know who God is and who you are in HIM.

You want to get to know God and get to know yourself. Take a deep dive into who you are, and who you want to become. Understanding your identity in Christ will set the foundation for everything you will do from this point forward. Recognizing and acknowledging your past, your struggles, your shortcomings and how you live out your daily Christian life is imperative in preparing yourself for the journey ahead.

Pursue

(And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.-Hebrews 11:6)

Go after the things of God- How do you go after the things of God? How do you follow the ways of God? You have to become familiar with the word of God. The word of God is what will cause you to transform your thinking, recondition your habits and behaviors, and seek knowledge and wisdom. Be diligent in studying the precepts, promises, and principals of God’s word.

Going after the things of God will require discipline, determination, commitment, and perseverance but will bear much fruit. This is how you experience transformation. This is how you learn how to become victorious over life’s hardships, this is how you transform your life through relationship, discovering value and meaning, breaking free from the bondage of sin, and grow spiritually.

Position

(Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the Devil’s schemes- Ephesians 6:11)

Position yourself for spiritual warfare- Get into position. As a believer, you will be a target for Satan but the confidence you have is that because of Christ and the spirit of God that dwells within you, you will have victory over the enemy! However, it’s important to understand how the enemy works. Do not be ignorant of the schemes and ways of the devil. We have to be aware of the way that the devil may move throughout our lives and the things he may do to attack us.

In order to be prepared and in position you must put on the full armor of God which scripture tells us is the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with readiness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. Be aware of your weaknesses, and any traps or distractions the enemy may use to infiltrate your Christian life.

Produce

((I am the vine, you are the branches, the one who remains in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.- John 15:5)

We want our Christian lives to be fruitful lives and we know that if we remain in Christ God who started a good work in us will complete it till the end. But what is our part in all this? It’s to remain in Him while he remains in us. We can produce good fruit in our lives by first of course putting our faith in Christ and creating and maintaining a close relationship with God.

You want to put forth good works, works should be the evidence of your faith. You want a lifestyle that creates an environment for spiritual growth, you want to walk with God and do things that will nurture spiritual maturity and transformation in Christ.
